Social Welfare Department, New Taipei City Government: Senior Care Conservation Project (Evergreen Volunteer)

Senior Care Conservation Project (Evergreen Volunteer)

In response to the rapid aging of the population in the aging society, New Taipei City Government has promoted the “senior care conservation project” since October 2013 to help regular families reduce care burdens and fulfill the capacity of care service. The project takes advantage of evergreen volunteers to help the elderly in need and jointly build an age-friendly city. The government called on ardent citizens who were willing to spread love, respect the elderly, and engage in social participation to act as evergreen volunteers and help the elderly in need. The service includes: accompanying the elderly for a walk, exercise, and shopping, providing meal service and clerical service. 18-hour evergreen volunteer training and 8-hour service internship were planned based on care personnel training courses. The project also combined the concept of volunteer banks to allow volunteer service hours to be exchanged with evergreen volunteer services or services provided by special care personnel in the future for personal use or friends and relatives; moreover, the volunteer service hours could be donated to charity and continuously spread love in society.
